Following on from our previous post about staying connected with customers on the frontline, strong business partnerships are not built only in meeting rooms or on the logistics frontline—they are also strengthened through shared experiences outside of daily operations.
At SVL, we believe that spending time together in a relaxed environment helps deepen trust and understanding between partners. This is especially true in Japan, where face-to-face interaction remains a crucial part of business culture and building long-term relationships.
One example of this is the golf outings we occasionally enjoy with our customers and key partners. Japan has the second-largest number of golf courses in the world—around 2,000 in total—which reflects how popular the sport is as a way for people to connect outside the office. These gatherings provide a chance for everyone to step away from their usual responsibilities, spend time together, and talk in a more informal setting.

The photo above captures a simple moment from one of those days. A golf ball resting on the tee, the course stretching out ahead, and the quiet focus before the next swing. Moments like this may seem small, but they represent something important: the value of human relationships in business.
Spending time on the course also offers something else that is easy to overlook during busy workdays—the opportunity to get out into nature. Being surrounded by open landscapes and greenery is a reminder that the environment is something we all share a responsibility to respect and protect.
SVL’s commitment to sustainability, carbon neutrality, and the SDGs means we aim to work with clients and suppliers who share our vision and align with our values. There is no better way to connect with people and understand what drives them than in this kind of setting. Do they share the same passion? Do they value the foundations that lead to a successful long-term partnership?
For SVL, these occasions are not just about the game itself. They are about bringing together key people involved in our business—from our own team members to our valued customers—to reinforce the relationships that help everything run smoothly.
Just as our leadership visits customer sites to stay connected to frontline operations, time spent together on the golf course reflects another important principle: balancing work with opportunities to build trust through shared experiences.
Through both work and play, we continue to nurture the partnerships that support our business and enable us to grow together with our customers.
